Strong win for RC Celta in their visit to the Estadio Romano del Merida AD (1-4). The team from Vigo played very concentrated all the match and qualified for the 1/16th final of the Copa del Rey thanks to the goals by Santi Mina for a brace, Pione Sisto and Brais Méndez.
The first half was dominated by the sky-blues. Oscar Garcia’s team showed the difference in category between both teams, and they got two goals ahead thanks to the goals of Santi Mina and Pione Sisto. Shortly before the break Merida AD reduced the distance after a controversial penalty pointed out by the team.
As soon as the match resumed, Brais Mendez extended the lead from the penalty spot and Santi Mina signed his double after taking advantage of a mistake by the home defence. In the final stretch, both teams sought to increase their box, but without a goal. The worst news was the injury of Néstor Araujo.
