RC Celta and Athletic drew this Sunday at Abanca Balaídos (0-0) in a match with very few scoring chances and where defenses prevailed over attacks. Both teams remain tied in the standings.
The match started with a very high pace from both teams. RC Celta circulated the ball with speed while Athletic Club tried to come out fast on the counter. Although the presence in the opponent’s field was high, the chances did not come.
The first to try was Iago Aspas with a free kick that went over the goal. Brais and Santi Mina also had the first goal but their shots went wide. The Basque team, well organized, little disturbed Iván in the first half.
In the second half, the sky-blue team kept looking for that goal that would allow them to secure the three points, but the Basque team defended with order and hardly conceded any goal chances, while the sky-blue defense was firm in the few red and white inroads.
In the final stretch, Coudet’s men, thanks to the entry of players from the bench, loaded the area with crosses and passes but could not beat Unai Simon’s goal.
