The EA Sports League is back, and RC Celta returned to Abanca Balaídos. However, this fifth matchday leaves a bitter taste for the Celeste team, which failed to secure a win at Abanca Balaídos against RCD Mallorca (0-1).
After a first half in which the home team dominated the game, with little pressure from the Mallorca side, the teams went into halftime with the score level.
During the second half, we saw a determined and persistent Celta side eager to give the fans a well-deserved victory. There were several occasions for the Celestes to take the lead, such as Carl Starfelt’s shot hitting the post in the 55th minute after a corner kick, or Jonathan Bamba’s goal, ultimately disallowed, in the 71st minute.
RC Celta was pushing hard, but in the 85th minute, Muriqi dashed the Celestes’ dreams by scoring the only and decisive goal for Javier Aguirre’s team.
Rafa Benítez’s men, who return to training tomorrow, will prepare for the next match against FC Barcelona, which will take place on Saturday, September 23, at 6:30 PM at the Spotify Camp Nou.
