RC Celta began 2019 with a loss against Athletic Club. Miguel Cardoso’s team suffered the counter-attacks of the red-and-white team, which got ahead on two occasions in ABANCA Balaídos. The sky-blue team will visit Rayo Vallecano’s stadium this Friday.
The match started with both teams setting their style on the pitch. In the first stages there were chances in both areas, but it was Athletic Club that took the lead with a goal from Muniaín at the 20 minute mark. Fran Beltran put the equalizer after a corner kick near half-time.
In the second half RC Celta enjoyed two dangerous finishes in the early stages, but it was Williams who put the Bilbao team ahead again. The sky-blue team tried by all means, but failed to draw the match despite enjoying clear scoring chances.
