The Madrid Sports Press Association (APDM) and DKV Seguros have awarded their Medicine and Sport Prize to Dr. Juan José García Cota, head of the medical services of RC Celta and director of the RC Celta Clinic, in recognition of his extensive and successful professional career in sports medicine.
In addition to being the head of RC Celta’s medical services – a position he has held since the summer of 2008 – the doctor from Pontevedra has also worked for 23 years for the Royal Spanish Football Federation, being responsible for Traumatology of the National Team between 2008 and 2022.
Dr. Cota will receive the Medicine and Sport Prize at the VIII Gala of the APDM, which will take place next Monday, January 29th, starting at 20:00 hours, at El Beatriz Madrid Auditorium.
The Medicine and Sport Prize was created in 2022 as recognition of the work of health professionals, psychologists, or clinical or research institutions, developed in the world of sports, whose purpose is to contribute to a better physical and psychological response of athletes when competing.
The first recipient of the Medicine and Sport Prize was the psychologist of the High Performance Center (CAR) of the Superior Sports Council (CSD), Pablo del Río Martínez, who has been practicing for more than three decades.
The II Medicine and Sport Prize was awarded to Dr. Pedro Guillén García, a renowned doctor and researcher specialized in the world of sports, with a 60-year career, who in 1977 was one of the introducers of arthroscopy in Spain.
