A willful RC Celta couldn’t do anything against Real Madrid’s total effectiveness. The Madrilenians reached half-time ahead on the scoreboard thanks to a goal from Benzema. Ten minutes after the second half, a shot from the French international after a good play, unfortunately ended up hitting Cabral’s body. It was 0 to 2 for Real Madrid.
RC Celta shortened the gap with a beautiful goal from captain Hugo Mallo on an exquisite pass from Brais Mendez. The goal provided flair to the Vigo team, who pushed hard in search of a draw. A doubtful penalty by Juncà, scored by Sergio Ramos, and the ejection of Cabral due to double yellow, paved the way for Real Madrid to win. In injury time, Ceballos scored the fourth of the Merengues and Brais Mendez, in his third consecutive matchday scoring, put the final 2-4.
