RC Celta has joined the agreement, making it one of the 16 clubs from LALIGA EA SPORTS that signed the agreement to regulate the conditions for visiting supporters. This agreement, initiated by LALIGA and based on the principle of reciprocity, establishes the sale of a minimum of 300 seats per match to members or supporters of the visiting club at a maximum price of 30 euros.
The idea, already implemented in the current LALIGA HYPERMOTION by LALIGA and Aficiones Unidas, had a working group consisting of five clubs: Athletic Club, Real Betis, Sevilla FC, Valencia CF, and Real Valladolid CF. They laid the foundations for the agreement which was officially confirmed on July 6th.
LALIGA has been working closely with Aficiones Unidas for 13 seasons. Initiatives like the “Sports Tourism” project, which aims to promote travel among fans to provide a 360º experience encompassing tourism, gastronomy, and culture around a football match, seek to place the fan at the center of all their actions.
Óscar Mayo, LALIGA’s Executive General Manager, expressed his enthusiasm about the initiative: “It is a pride that we can launch this new brand with such an agreement. Facilitating and promoting sports tourism is one of LALIGA’s main motivations, and being able to bring this agreement to the top category is a great luxury and excitement. Today there are 15 clubs; we hope there will be 20 in the future.”
Below are some statements from the clubs involved in the agreement:
Carlos Mouriño, President of RC Celta: “This agreement aligns perfectly with one of our objectives: to provide our fans with all possible facilities during their travels, and in this case, also for fans of our rivals. It’s beneficial for everyone, and we’re pleased to join an initiative that will allow LaLiga’s team fans to enjoy favorable conditions in most stadiums.”
Jon Uriarte, President of Athletic Club: “This measure will greatly benefit Athletic. I believe we are one of the LALIGA teams that often receive the most support from our fans when playing away, so any measure that further increases this support is very positive.”
Joan Laporta, President of FC Barcelona: “For Barça, this is a very interesting avenue to address the numerous requests we get from fans who want to accompany the team outside Barcelona and especially for the thousands of Barcelonistas eagerly awaiting the visit of their idols to the LALIGA EA Sports stadiums. The agreement benefits local tourism, not just economically, but also in strengthening ties between cities.”
Enrique Cerezo (Atlético de Madrid) emphasizes the benefits of the agreement for tourism. José Castro (Sevilla FC) speaks of the positive impact visiting fans have on the city. Ramón Alarcón (Real Betis) highlights the importance of promoting a culture of sports travel. Several other club representatives, such as Rafael Contreras (Cádiz CF), Alfonso Díaz (RCD Mallorca), Javier Solís (Valencia CF), and others express their support and emphasize the broader benefits beyond just the football match – from boosting local commerce to enriching the overall match-day experience. They all agree that the agreement is a step forward in elevating LALIGA and the fan experience.
